The three days featured lectures and skill stations delivered by the ECMO Unit of the Critical Care Department Cairo University and was directed by Professor Akram Abdel Bary, Past President of SWAAC ELSO.

The course was endorsed by the Egyptian ECMO Working Group ( A division of the Egyptian College of Critical care Physicians – ECCCP )

Dr Lluis Blanch lecturing at Critical Care of the Future Symposium

Critical Care of the Future Symposium held on 23 November 2019 at the Maadi Hospital hosted Dr Lluis Blanch, Senior Intensivist and Consultant at the Critical Care Center of Hospital Parc Taulí in Spain who provided the key note lecture titled: Digital transformation in the ICU.

Dr Blanch has been a featured guest faculty of Pulmonary Medicine Update Course since 2008.

The lecture explored how can we tap and manage data originating in the intensive care environment as a valuable resource.

The lecture addressed the following:

1. Will Big Data generated from ICU data sets allow developing predictive models leading to improvements in outcomes?

2. Do we expect from the industry dealing with AI to provide clinicians with point-of-care decision support tools?

3. Are we ready for an evolution of a new knowledge that will advance our practice in the ICU?

The symposium was organized by Scribe.
